About the project

A Universal Micro-Server Ecosystem by Exceeding the Energy and Performance Scaling Boundaries

“Universal Micro-Server Ecosystem by Exceeding the Energy and Performance Scaling Boundaries”(Universver) project is s a “Research and Innovation Action” (RIA project) that targets the development of a universal micro-server architecture and software ecosystem. UniServer will facilitate the evolution of the Internet from an infrastructure where data is aggregated to centralized data-centres to an infrastructure where data are handled in a distributed and localized manner close to the data sources. UniServer will realize its bold goal by greatly improving the energy efficiency, performance, dependability and security of the current state-of-the-art micro-servers, while reinforcing the supported system software.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 688540

Uniserver researchers Zacharias Hadjilambrou and Konstantinos Tovletoglou, each presented a poster in the ACM SRC student research poster competition at the PACT 2018 conference.

Project researcher Panagiota Nikolaou presented the paper "Exploring the Trade-offs of running an IoT application at the Edge vs. the Cloud at Computing" at the Computing Systems Week HIPEAC 2018.

UniServer business focused workshop will take place in Barcelona on Monday 12th of November 2018, hosted by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
