Matching great talent and industrial development for designing the future of Europe
Barcelona, May 2017
Worldsensing is rapidly growing and therefore is constantly looking for new talent to design the future of Smart Cities and to provide cities and industrial clients with Operational Intelligence. The best approach to achieve this goal is to meet with future professionals. To this end, Worldsensing visited the XII Business Congress at the University of Barcelona, to look for highly talented students of physics, mathematics, computer and telecommunications engineering.
The University of Barcelona organized the XII Business Congress on May 3rd 2017. Worldsensing, a global leader in wireless sensor networks and Operational Intelligence, is strongly committed to promoting new talent. As a sponsor of the Business Congress, Worldsensing presented its innovation activities to highly-skilled and young students from the Faculty of Physics.
More than 100 students actively participated in this open event in which roughly 1000 attendees had the opportunity to find out more about different business activities and handed in their CVs to join the fast growing industrial IoT expert.

“At events like this, we notice there is a growing interest of young students regarding innovative concepts such as IoT devices and Artificial Intelligence”Andrea Bartoli (Head of Innovation at Worldsensing).

During the event, Worldsensing presented its research and development projects in which the company is currently involved in (i.e. UNISERVER, CIPSEC, etc.) with special emphasis on Fastprk-2, the cornerstone of future smart parking solutions in Europe. This helped raise awareness about how the H2020 project can help make Europe more competitive in the future. The head of Worldsensing’s Innovation Department, Andrea Bartoli (PhD), discussed main trends of IoT ecosystems within the next years, such as: i) cyber-security, ii) long-range communication and iii) Artificial Intelligence, among others. These points are going to boost the Smart City market by 2020, with solutions that make a positive difference to the lives of the community.
The detailed presentation of the Fastprk2 project attracted a high interest due to the major challenge it represents in different fields of application. In fact, students of mathematics were attracted by the strategy to select and implement algorithms suitable enough to process data and develop advanced services of the Fastprk2 solution. On the other hand, physicists were surprised by the technical complexity Worldsensing´s innovative smart parking sensor is based on which operates on a tandem detection approach (Infrared and magneto-resistive detection). Worldsensing´s innovative approach to allowing cities to manage operations in real time and enhancing decision-making was also very well received by all students. Worldsensing´s City Operational Intelligence Solution empowers cities to work more efficiently and cost-effectively.

All students believe that innovation is the way for improving the future of Europe’s competitiveness
