Latest trends in structural and geotechnical monitoring at the SOCOTEC 2nd Monitoring Congress

Worldsensing proudly sponsored the 2nd Monitoring Congress organised by SOCOTEC Spain in Madrid on 8th June 2023. The congress showcased cutting-edge monitoring techniques employed worldwide to evaluate and manage the structural and geotechnical integrity of various infrastructures, including bridges, buildings, dams, and tunnels,as well as tank and pipeline inspection for the industrial sector.

National and international experts in geotechnical and structural instrumentation gathered at the event. Distinguished speakers included Josep Raventós, Manager of Geotechnics and Monitoring at SOCOTEC Spain; Filippo Bastianini, Director of SOCOTEC Photonics, an expert in designing, installing, and operating fibre optic instrumentation systems; and Daniel Thompson from SOCOTEC UK, along with other industry leaders.

Juan Pérez Arcas, Head of Instrumentation and Monitoring at Worldsensing, presented state-of-the-art technological solutions for remote IoT monitoring of underground construction and tunnel projects. 

The congress took place at the Eduardo Torroja Institute in Madrid, a renowned research and teaching institution in civil, structural, and materials engineering affiliated with the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC). In addition, a dedicated networking area was available during the session, enabling product testing and showcasing the latest advancements in monitoring technologies.
