The Barcelona-based company connects and monitors solar PV assets to improve maintenance operations

Barcelona, June 2018
As IoT pioneer and provider of operational intelligence within the Smart City industry and industrial sectors, Worldsensing is participating in a range of innovation project to make sure the company stays at the forefront of intelligent IoT technology developments. Among others, Worldsensing is a member of the REFER initiative, cofounded by ERDF, the European Regional Development Fund.

Solar energy to monitor energy consumption

The REFER project is focused on studying and testing technologies, deployed in real-world environments, which  help monitor and manage the energy consumption of buildings with the aim to make energy consumption more efficient and sustainable. In collaboration with all REFER partners, Worldsensing developed an IoT monitoring device powered by solar energy and integrated a new solar PV asset monitoring application to improve the maintenance process for a prototype deployed on a building close to Barcelona, Montgat’s public library. The technology is supported by Worldsensing’s leading wireless monitoring system for remote assets and infrastructures, Loadsensing. The test campaign will run from May to December 2018 in Montgat.
