LS-G6-TIL90-X

The Tilt90-x

The Tilt90-x may be used to monitor bridge and other civil infrastructure, embankments, building response to tunneling and excavation-induced ground movements, foundations and deep excavations, landslide-prone areas and slope stability.

FAQ’s

01

Do I need to apply temperature correction to the wireless tiltmeters?

Some compensations are already internally applied to the sensor to minimize temperature dependency. The tiltmeter sensor temperature dependency is up to 0.002°/°C .
With the aim of reducing the thermal effects on the tiltmeter, it is recommended to install the device indoors when possible in order to avoid sun exposure. If not, it is suggested to install a plastic cover or similar, to keep it in the shade, as sun exposure causes a thermal gradient on the enclosure.
Changes in temperature will cause structure and tiltmeter thermal effects, and in order to determine the best way to proceed to measure tilt is to determine the temperature behavior of the structure before the activities start (Ideally this baseline should be extended for a year to also cover the seasonal thermal changes and not only the daily changes). With this baseline, it will be possible to distinguish the movements induced by temperature behaviour (including thermal effects of the tiltmeter) between movements induced by the excavation.

02

I have finished the project where the tiltmeter has been installed? Do I need to recalibrate the tiltmeter? How often do you recommend recalibrating it?

Wireless tiltmeters should be recalibrated if the device needs to be repaired or if it has been affected by any significant impact, different levels of vibration or physical stress.

03

I need to recalibrate the tiltmeter, how can I proceed?

Worldsensing provides calibration service which includes the disassembly of the wireless tiltmeter to inspect the mechanical parts before the calibration. Please contact us for more information.
