Research into smart, energy-efficient, transparent glazing systems with access to mobile technologies

The overall objective of this project is to research and develop the most energy-efficient and transparent glazing system, which will also enhance wireless connectivity and mobile coverage through the application of FSS (Frequency Selective Surfaces).

This consists of removing part of the metal layer previously deposited in straight horizontal and vertical strips. These strips are equivalent to capacitors and coils, so that together they act as a low-pass filter that allows mobile signals to pass through. The cutoff frequency of this filter varies depending on the separation between lines and their thickness. Likewise, it is proposed to improve the energy efficiency of these glazing by applying coatings that improve passive radiation, exchanging heat with the outside space, thus improving their energy efficiency.
