Applications

Explore the wide range of monitoring solutions the Piconode enables across structural and remote process monitoring.

Comprehensive Weather Parameters

Weather Stations Weather transmitters

Compatibility with major weather transmitter manufacturers via digital interface. Monitor precipitation, air temperature and other weather parameters using a weather transmitter connected to a Digital logger or ThreadX3. Multiple configurations readily available to stream the right data to your information systems.

Load in rock bolts, cable bolts and ground anchors

Load cells

Ensure the proper functionality of anchor systems -active and passive- by monitoring in a representative sample the load throughout their lifecycle including the load tests and stressing works. Stream data wirelessly from most of the load cells based on resistive strain gauges available in the market using the Piconode analog data logger. The 5-channel Vibrating Wire and the Digital Logger can also be suitable, depending on the type of load cell.

Movements across surface cracks

Crackmeters Draw wire sensors

Crack meters available in the market can be readily connected to a Vibrating Wire 1-channel data logger or the Piconode to monitor movement across surface cracks.

Pipe and closed conduits flow measurement

Water meters Flow meters

Monitor the pumping rate using a water meter connected to a Piconode to verify the performance of the dewatering system. Additionally, measure water inflows into tailings dams, irrigation quantification in dump and heap leaching and other processes.

Frequently asked questions

How does it work?

The data logger connects to a specific analog sensor using its configurable channel and can also connect to a thermistor and a pulse counter through its two additional channels. It transmits data via Worldsensing LoRa networks to a CMT Edge for local-access, single-network deployments. For multi-project, multi-network deployments, data can be transmitted via the internet from the gateway to CMT Cloud.

What is the Piconode data logger

The piconode data logger is a wireless data acquisition IoT device that collects data from most analaog signals and transmits them using long-range, low power radio communications

What is the maximum interval at which data can be collected?

Devices can be configured at different reporting periods. The highest possible acquisition rate when using Worldsensing is one sample every 30 seconds, and the lowest is one sample every 24 hours. With such parameters the system can run for a long period, between 7 and 10 years.

What is the communication range for the data logger?

The radio range of any of Loadsensing devices varies depending on the environment. In open sight, the range can reach up to 15 km (9.3 mi), while in a city street it is up to 4 km (2.5 mi). When placed in a manhole in a city street, the range is up to 2 km (1.2 mi), and in a tunnel, it extends up to 4 km (2.5 mi).

Is the Piconode compatible with a 4-20mA sensor?

The Piconode is designed to power sensors at 5V, which is typically lower than the voltage required by 4-20mA sensors. For compatibility with 4-20mA sensors, an analog 4-channel data logger is a more suitable alternative.

How is the message from the pulse counter transmitted?

The value is accumulated. Contact us for further information.

What they say about us

Discover how Worldsensing has made a positive impact, providing reliable solutions and exceptional support.

The Worldsensing Piconode is very good for installation work, especially because we didn’t have to go up the cliff. We are not professional climbers. And just imagine having cables running 600 meters over a cliff to 43 sensors. Read success story

Daniel Naterop
Project Manager, Huggenberger

The adoption of Worldsensing technology eliminates the need for cabling, reduces manual monitoring and allows significant savings up to 50% on the acquisition of materials and infrastructure and up to 50% on installation as opposed to other monitoring platforms we have installed in the first excavation phase. Alexandre Cosentino
Mining Engineer, GEO-Instruments Canada (formerly GKM Consultants)

Worldsensing products are very easy to use. We connect our device to the logger, fill out the information and the data will start transmitting to the gateway and online.

It’s 100% satisfaction. Our client keeps coming back and asking for more digital nodes. The return on investment is easily less than a year for this. Read success story

Adam Dulmage
Businesss Development Executive, Mining sector, GEO-Instruments Canada (formerly GKM Consultants)

An important point in the project was the concrete anti-vandalism protection used to guarantee the safety of the equipment. Even with this protection, the system managed to transmit to the gateway more than 2 kilometers away. Read success story

Rodrigo Raposo
Geotechnical Engineer, D.Sc and Consultant, RD&I, 3Geo Tecnologia

The set-up and installation was extremely simple. The data could be immediately transferred to the evaluation and visualization system. Its main advantage is its ability to send radio signals from under manholes and over a long distance. Read success story

Dr.-Ing. Andreas Wagner
Project Manager, Angermeier Ingenieure

A great advantage of the Worldsensing system is the ability to change the reading frequency from a click of a finger without the need to go on site. So no need to access every logger to change it, it can all be done online.
