Barcelona, July 2019
Worldsensing was invited to present the work they are developing in the APAC region to implement a smart city program at the XXII National Symposium of Selected Information and Communication Technology Issues, held in Thai Binh city on 28-29 June 2019.
Southeast Asia is keeping pace with the global trend of using the Internet of Things (IoT) across different sectors for the most innovative uses. Local authorities and regional governments are taking full advantage of the technology to enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).
In this regard, while recently announcing the opening of a new Singapore office, Ignasi Vilajosana, Worldsensing CEO and co-founder, explained: “The Asia-Pacific region has been a source of strong growth over the past 3 years and we expect the rate of growth to continue to accelerate going forward.”
The keynote speech given by Francesc Domingo, Worldsensing Chief Evangelist, detailed how Worldsensing is helping cities’ authorities in the region to improve their daily decision-making processes by using Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
Measures that allow and ensure a stable development without creating a negative impact on the citizens’ lives are necessary due to the rapid and unceasing growth of urban environments in the region. Currently, more and more cities have sensors and other technologies for real-time data collection and analysis aiming at tackling the increasing pressure to achieve economic development in a sustainable way.
Various systems and services often coexist resulting in a data abundance in the city ecosystem that needs a central solution for single-point exploitation. This is key for the development of cities and how they interact with citizens.
Worldsensing has created OneMind, an Intelligent IoT Solution Builder, for cities wishing to use IoT technology to maximize the use of their systems and equipment introducing operational intelligence. OneMind allows different data from all existing sensors and systems to be combined in a single platform. The result is a set of geolocated information in real-time, analytics and performance indicators (KPI’s), anomaly detection and display of alarms and response plans, among other features.
“We are in close cooperation with several cities in the area supporting them throughout the whole cycle: we first deploy our OneMind solution and then help them acquire, store and analyze data so they start creating the basis for improving their management processes,” says Francesc Domingo, Worldsensing Chief Evangelist.
The National Symposium of Selected Information and Communication Technology Issues is co-organized by the Institute of Information Technology – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Thai Binh University. Since 1997 the event is an annual forum for researchers and industry specialists working in deployment, teaching, and management in the information technology field.
OneMind is the intelligent IoT solution builder Worldsensing uses to build applications for Smart City operations and Smart Construction. Functioning as a system of systems, OneMind allows connecting all existing data sources to one single point of insight to provide real-time information on operational processes. Applications powered by OneMind provide construction site managers and directors of operations in cities with instant intelligence and response plans to make smart decisions and manage teams and processes more efficiently.
Worldsensing is a widely recognized global IoT pioneer. Founded in 2008, the Barcelona-based technology provider delivers Operational Intelligence to traditional industries and cities. With over 100 employees and offices in Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, and Singapore, Worldsensing is globally active and has already conducted projects in over 60 countries across all continents.
