Overview

SACOFA, the leading telecommunications infrastructure provider in Sarawak, Malaysia, has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Worldsensing. Announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC26), this partnership marks a significant step in accelerating the adoption of data-driven solutions across the state of Sarawak.

Empowering Sarawak’s digital vision

The collaboration is strategically aligned with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030. By leveraging SACOFA’s extensive network, which includes over 11,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables and more than 1,600 cellular towers, the two companies will explore the integration of advanced IoT technologies into existing telecommunications infrastructure.

Key areas of collaboration

  • Infrastructure monitoring: Investigating practical applications such as monitoring the structural health of telecommunications towers

  • Joint innovation: Launching feasibility studies and pilot projects to evaluate the technical and commercial viability of various IoT use cases
  • Knowledge exchange: Hosting technical workshops to ensure insights from pilot projects inform wider smart infrastructure initiatives across the Sarawak state
