Parking Sense is a fast-growing intelligent parking solution technology company with over 30 years of parking management and 12 years of sensor-based technology experience. To provide LA Metro with an end-to-end parking management solution, Parking Sense experts internally developed their own indoor parking sensor and have partnered up with Worldsensing and its leading outdoor parking management system, Fastprk, for outdoor deployments.
The partnership aims to take advantage of the strengths and expertise of both companies – indoor parking and US market dominance by Parking Sense and outdoor deployments and global IoT sensor technology provided by Worldsensing. The two companies are also working on the US expansion of end-to-end smart parking technology not only in public parking areas but also for private locations such as hotels, airports and malls, among others.
While Parking Sense is becoming the leading parking provider in the United States, the technology provider won a massive tender in 2016. With the objective to deploy 20.000 outdoor parking places located in the proximity of the Los Angeles Metro stations, Parking Sense joined forces with Worldsensing to cover the outdoor parking requirements of the project.
“We are proud to be the official partner of Parking Sense in a major parking project in the United States. This is proof that Fastprk is the perfect complement for indoor parking providers. We are committed to supporting Parking Sense in their projects in the US and in expanding their business in Europe.”, says Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO and co-founder of Worldsensing.
The biggest challenge of the project was to achieve accurate, real-time parking occupancy data in the area around the metro stations, an environment saturated with high magnetic noise. After extensive joint testing of the new and improved Fastprk sensors with dual magnetic and infrared detection technology, the results proved to be more than satisfactory, and this marked another milestone in the partnership.
“Seriously had I not seen it with my own eyes in LA, I would not have believed how good your product works, 97-98% accuracy and hitting sensors from the gateway over 300 meters away, very impressive.” Larry Eade, Parking Sense Vice President Operations noted enthusiastically.
Together, Parking Sense and Worldsensing are helping to drive positive change with the various stakeholders of the project. First, the LA Metro can benefit from increased ridership and revenues, the city of Los Angeles can experience reduced traffic and emissions, and most importantly the citizens can reap the benefits of their taxes and travel within the city with less hassles and headaches. The partners are optimistic on results as they roll-out in the different LA Metro parking areas and other US cities starting this 2018.
