Worldsensing selects geotechnical expert to lead North America sales

Kelsey Kidd brings major project experience in geophysics and geology as Worldsensing expands its strategic investments in the North American geotech market

Barcelona, Spain, 14 September 2020: Worldsensing, the leader in industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, today announced the appointment of geotechnical expert Kelsey Kidd to head up North American sales.

Kidd joins Worldsensing following more than a decade’s worth of geotechnical, geophysical and geological experience, specializing in oil and gas operations with companies such as Fairfield Geotechnologies and drilling firm Nomac Services.

Most recently, she headed up business development at a boutique seismic processing company called Flat Gathers, offering consultancy services for oil and gas projects.

“Kelsey brings a wealth of field experience to our sales team as we look to increase our footprint across North America,” said Steve Cahill, Worldsensing’s COO. “She has in-depth knowledge not just of the market but also of our customers’ technical needs.”

Worldsensing’s Loadsensing industrial IoT solution has already been deployed in several projects across North America, including the Purple Line rail link in Washington D.C., the MSLA landfill in New Jersey and the Bloom Lake iron ore mine in Quebec.

“Worldsensing’s technology has massive scope to improve safety and reduce costs in construction, mining, infrastructure and rail projects across North America,” said Kidd.

“The Loadsensing solution combines the latest IoT technology with long-range wireless communication in a package that offers superior capabilities to most traditional geotechnical systems in the North American market,” she said.

According to a September 2020 report from the Council on Foreign Relations, the US alone needs to spend more than $2 trillion on infrastructure by 2025. Poor airport infrastructure is costing the US economy more than $35 billion a year on its own, the study says.¹

Furthermore, the current coronavirus crisis has raised awareness of the value of low-cost, long-term remote monitoring of critical assets that Loadsensing is specifically designed to deliver.

“Loadsensing already benefits projects across North America but the potential for further applications is vast,” said Cahill. “We’re looking forward to talking to North American service providers, sensor manufacturers and technology partners about the advantages our technology can offer.”
