Innovation takes center stage at Worldsensing’s Hack Week 2026

Overview

For the fourth time, Worldsensing organized Hack Week, a week-long event where all staff were welcomed to work on innovative ideas, focusing on solving real-world challenges through rapid prototyping and out-of-the-box thinking.

What is Hack Week?

Hack Week is more than just a coding event; it is a cultural cornerstone designed to foster creativity and cross-departmental teamwork. Over the course of five days, participants step away from their daily routines to explore new technologies, build experimental features, and pitch ideas that could become the next big breakthrough.

A diverse collaborative effort

This year’s turnout was a testament to Worldsensing’s vibrant culture of innovation. Teams were composed of experts from various departments, including Engineering, Data Science, and Product Design, ensuring that each project was not only technically sound but also customer-centric and commercially viable.

Centered around the theme “Building Tomorrow Together,” the event focused on key innovation areas including Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and User Experience. Participants collaborated to develop forward-thinking solutions, competing for a grand prize that included project funding and implementation support.

Double the innovation: Announcing the winning projects

After a week of intense development and a high-stakes final pitch session, the judges faced an impossible choice. For the first time in the event’s history, two projects have been awarded the top honor for their exceptional impact and technical execution:

  • The Steel Whisperer: A standout project recognized for its unique approach: an AI-driven tool designed to optimize steel manufacturing by analyzing acoustic data for defect detection.
  • LoRa Network Capability Simulator: A technical platform that models and predicts the performance and coverage of long-range, low-power LoRaWAN networks, pushing the boundaries of connectivity modeling.

Ultimately, Hack Week 2026 proved once again that our greatest asset isn’t just our technology, but the diverse, collective imagination of our team.
