Construction Site Monitoring of Eppenberg Tunnel

May 2016

Monitoring of the Eppenberg Tunnel is made more efficient with wireless sensor technology
The geomonitoring company Terra Monitoring AG has installed Loadsensing wireless sensors to supervise the construction of this railway infrastructure in Switzerland.
Worldsensing’s technology is being used to monitor the construction of the Eppenberg railway tunnel in the Canton of Solothurn (Switzerland). By means of the wireless sensor network Loadsensing, Worldsensing is assisting one of the leading monitoring companies in Switzerland to collect data on the geotechnical instruments being used on the construction site, which allows for real-time monitoring.
Automating instrumentation
Terra Monitoring AG has installed a monitoring system in the Eppenberg tunnel which is made up of 55 load anchors and 5 extensometers controlled by a central gateway located outside the tunnel. The monitoring of these instruments has been automated using Worldsensing’s wireless sensor technology with very positive results.
