Worldsensing wins Start-up of the Year Award

Worldsensing wins Start-up of the Year Award

January 2018

Worldsensing has been awarded the Premio Inicia for 2017, as part of the Company of the Year Awards, organized by Spanish newspaper El Periódico. The Premio Inicia awards the most innovative companies for product originality, technological contribution and business scalability. The Inicia jury selected companies based on their business potential and their capacity to impact and transform the economy.
Most start-ups struggle to come up with one viable idea. In 2010, Worldsensing had a different problem: choosing which of its technology solutions to take to market. Today, the Barcelona-based Operational Intelligence Company is the leading provider for mobility, traffic, parking and incident management solutions for Smart Cities and the go-to-reference for wireless monitoring within the mining, construction and civil engineering markets.

“We are very proud of winning the Inicia award. It is not only a recognition of our teams’ dedication, but also a reward for our thirst for innovation and our eagerness to constantly do things differently.”, states Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO and cofounder of Worldsensing.

In general, the Inicia award aims to recognize the positive impact start-ups have on the Catalonian economy which generated more than 475 million euros worth of funding in 2017. While Barcelona is among the leading European start-up cities such as London, Paris, Berlin or Stockholm, it is estimated that Catalonia received about half of the total funds raised by Spanish start-ups in 2017.
The award ceremony will be held in Barcelona on January 15th.
